When lockdowns hit, many people invested in new gear and fitness trends that didn’t last. Alan’s story is different. 5 years later, his CAROL Bike is still central to his routine—delivering efficient workouts that keep his health markers optimal.
The search for something that worked
Alan first discovered CAROL when his wife bought him a CAROL Bike as a Father’s Day gift during the first year of the pandemic. Getting the bike up 3 flights of stairs was a workout in itself, but once in place it quickly became part of his routine.
“I used to do triathlons when I was younger, but hated long rides on stationary bikes. My wife did the research and learned about CAROL Bike. It fit seamlessly into my workout regimen.”
Why it stuck
At the time, Alan was searching for a way to stay fit without giving up hours each week. He had tried Peloton classes, but they didn’t deliver the performance gains he wanted.
“Pre-pandemic, I tried Peloton classes but found them to offer little performance improvement,” he recalls. “I was desperately seeking a way to maintain my health without needing to spend a ton of time to get there.”
From the moment it was set up, CAROL became part of his life. “It’s been a part of my regimen from the day I set it up. There are certainly weeks when I don’t hit the recommended number of rides, but when I do it feels really good. My blood pressure and heart rate are optimal and it’s still the primary form of cardio exercise I do, augmented with dog walks, hikes, and some mountain biking. Nothing beats the effectiveness of sprints.”
5 years on
While other fitness fads have faded, Alan’s CAROL Bike remains central to his training. “Everyone I know who got a Peloton during the pandemic has abandoned them. My CAROL Bike is still going strong.”
The short, intense workouts are what keep him coming back. “I get such an intense workout in such a short period of time—that has helped. Stationary bikes are boring. CAROL is not. The quality of the bike is solid … I have never worried about maintenance. It just keeps going.”
Alan’s go-to workouts are the 2–3 sprint REHIT rides. Quick, efficient, and effective, they deliver exactly what he needs.
Alan’s advice
Alan is clear about why CAROL Bike works: it’s built on science, not gimmicks.
“Believe the science. You’re not signing up for huge amounts of time with instructors saying silly things—you’re just training. You get on it, get the work done, and go about your day. And you feel it. The numbers don’t lie.”
For Alan, CAROL Bike has proved to be the rare piece of fitness equipment that lasts—not just in build quality, but as a fitness habit too.
